25 March 2020 – ComfortDelGro Taxi is extending and increasing the daily rental relief to help its cabbies affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Effective today till the end of April 2020, an additional $10 daily rental relief will be given to each taxi on top of the current $36.50, inclusive of the $10 Government Special Relief Fund (SRF)1. This will mean ComfortDelGro cabbies will see a total daily rental reduction of $46.50 till the end of April.

The additional assistance follows the enhanced COVID-19 measures which restrict gatherings of more than 10 people and require the closure of all bars, cinemas and entertainment outlets from 11.59pm on Thursday, 26 March till 30 April.

Said Mr Ang Wei Neng, ComfortDelGro Taxi CEO: “We understand and support the latest enhanced COVID-19 measures. These measures will mean that people are encouraged to stay at home and demand for taxis will drop.

Therefore, we are not only extending the $16.50 rental relief which was supposed to end on 31 March 2020 to end-April 2, but are also giving another $10 rental relief to help cabbies offset the anticipated drop in income. We hope the second stimulus package that the Government is announcing tomorrow will further mitigate the plight of all cabbies. We will continue to monitor the situation and review our rental relief. We will do what we can to support our cabbies during these difficult times.”
