Did you know that it is mandatory for cabbies to renew their Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence (TDVL) every three years, and attend a Taxi Refresher Course once every six years?
When your TDVL is due to be renewed, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will send you a renewal notice. If you did not receive it, log in to the GoBusiness Licensing portal to check your renewal status. Otherwise, you may also check your TDVL status under One Monitoring.
I received a renewal notice, what should I do?
Whether you are aspiring to be a cabby or are an existing cabby with us, read our easy guide below on how you can get your TDVL renewed. But first, you must ensure that you have met regulatory requirements stated in the renewal notice.
1. Medical check-up
Cabbies aged 50 and above are required to go for a medical check-up (without x-ray) before the renewal of your TVDL.
Age range | What to do | Medical check-up needed |
Cabbies aged 50 to 64 years old | Simply get your LTA Medical Examination Form filled up at any Singapore-registered clinic or SATA Diagnostic Centre. | Every two years |
Cabbies turning 65, 68, 71, 66, 67, 69 and 72 years old | Simply get your LTA Medical Examination Form filled up at any Singapore-registered clinic or SATA Diagnostic Centre. | Every year |
Cabbies turning 70, 73 and 74 years old | Simply get your LTA Assessment on Fitness to Drive Report filled up by a general practitioner (pink colour medical form). Next, get your on-road assessment done at any driving centre, such as the ComfortDelGro Driving Centre. Once you have obtained a “pass”, they will sign on your LTA Assessment on Fitness to Drive Report and provide you with a completed On-Road Assessment Checklist. | Every year |
