2 July 2015 – Like most things in Singapore, education can get really expensive.
And so it came as welcome relief when Cabby Ho Weng Wen joined ComfortDelGro Taxis two years ago as a hirer and found out about the Company’s study achievement awards for cabbies’ children.
With half of the household income spent on their four children’s education every month, the $600 worth of study achievement awards will certainly help to alleviate some of the expenditure this year.
“To some, $600 is nothing but to my wife and I, every little bit helps. I was very glad that ComfortDelGro Taxis offers such benefits for its cabbies. I am also very happy and proud that all my children qualified for the study achievement awards. It is a lesson to them that hard work pays off. The funds will certainly help to defray the costs of schooling items such as textbooks and uniforms,” said the 43-year-old.
In all, 675 students will be receiving over $115,000 worth of study achievement awards from ComfortDelGro Taxis this year. The Company has been helping the children of its drivers for some 40 years. In the last decade alone, almost $1.6 million has been given out to fund the school fees of students.
