18 August 2017 – The world’s largest online and mobile payment platform, favourited by the world’s largest population, is now available on ComfortDelGro Taxi.
Alipay, the world’s leading digital payment and lifestyle app operated by Ant Financial Services Group, has been available on all 15,000 ComfortDelGro taxis since 12 July this year. In just slightly more than a month, over 10,000 Alipay transactions have been conducted. Alipay has more than 520 million active users and most are Chinese Nationals.
Using Alipay is easy: At the end of the taxi trip, the cabby selects Alipay on the cashless payment terminal and a QR Code will appear. The passenger scans the QR code using the Alipay app and keys in the password to confirm the payment. An administrative fee will be waived from 1 September to 31 December 2017. Passengers using Alipay for ComfortDelGro taxi rides can enjoy discounts of up to RMB20 (S$4) every month. Cabbies will also receive S$1 incentive in their bank accounts by the next working day for every successful Alipay transaction they accept.
