With our taxi bookings increasing at an average of over 30% in 2021 as compared to 2020 and 25% higher as compared to the previous month, there’s no better time than to drive with us than now!

Our taxis have clocked higher bookings just over this year’s Black Friday as compared to the one last year. In fact, on 17 December, the Saturday leading up to Christmas on 25 December, we recorded a record number of trips for 2021 alone. Year-end sales have also helped boost taxi bookings. The increase from November to December this year as compared to the same period last year was higher. The higher increase simply translates to more people venturing out more than they did before, which is an encouraging sign, especially for us in this point-to-point transport service industry.

The question that many potential cabbies are therefore likely to ask, especially during a pandemic is this: “Will there be enough passengers for me to cover my daily operating costs?”

It isn’t a question we have not anticipated. As Singapore looks to adjust its measures in dealing with the latest Omicron variant such as allowing 50% of employees to return to working in office from January 2022 onwards, we expect demand to go up some more.

Some of our cabbies are looking forward to that. Cabby Jaime Leong, a cabby with us for three years, has seen her daily nett income steadily increased in December 2021. Said Cabby Leong: “There had of course been many days in which I could barely make it but these last two months are a different story. More passengers are taking our taxis and I am thankful to them for their kind support.”

Another cabby, Cabby Woo K C added: “There had been a lot of ups and downs in the last two years because of the uncertainties that we face with COVID-19. But, now, with more people fully vaccinated and getting their third booster shot, I am seeing more people heading out to their offices and for social gatherings, which is a welcome sign.”

And it isn’t just the cabbies who are staying positive. Mr Kenny Teo, Fleet Operations Manager of ComfortDelGro Taxi, is equally positive about how the situation has improvement over the last two months.

He said: “We are hoping for more drivers to consider driving with us to help meet the growing demand, especially as more people return to offices and Chinese New Year is just round the corner. We have really competitive rental schemes and offers at the moment to cater to all kinds of drivers – full-time hirers or relief drivers as well or part-time weekend drivers.”

Cabbies who have continued driving with us in the last two years are truly an inspiration. They have stayed resilient even in the most difficult time and continued to serve as frontliners. Their resilience, hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed.  At ComfortDelGro Taxi, we fully recognise that our cabbies are our valued business partners and are not ashamed to reward those who have performed well and received their well-deserved recognition at our recent Top Cabby Awards:

Perhaps just like them, you, too, can excel in this vocation. Or perhaps, you are just looking at the right time to make the switch. There is no better time than now. Don’t just take our word for it. Come experience it yourself like how Cabbies Leong and Woo did.
