Are you looking to start your own driving business, be it driving a taxi or private hire vehicle? Here’s how to do it and we are more than happy to guide you step by step.

Step 1: Make sure that you meet the requirements before you begin your application!

LTA requirements:

  • Be at least 30 years old at the point of application
  • Be a Singapore Citizen
  • Have a valid Class 3 or 3A Singapore driving licence for a continuous period of at least 1 year at the point of application
  • GCE”O” or “N” Level certificate, with pass (at least a D7 grade) in English or a Level 3 pass in English under the Workplace Literacy (WPL) programme for Listening, Reading and Speaking

If you don’t have an English certificate, you will have to sit for a computerized English test (the Workplace literacy Computer-Adaptive Test or WPL-CAT) for modules (Listening, Reading and Speaking-must attain at least a level 3 pass for all the 3 modules) at British Council.

Getting A Private Hire Car Drivers’ Vocational Licence (PDVL) In A Nutshell

SUBMIT AND OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM THE LAND TRANSPORT AUTHORITY

Step 1
Visit https://licence1.business.gov.sg/web/frontier/home and login with your Singpass or Login ID.

Step 2
Click “Licence Application”, and then “Apply for New Licence”.

Step 3
Search for the licence to apply, click “Add to Selection”, and proceed to “Review & Apply”.

Step 4
Click “Apply” to start the licence application.

Step 5
Agree to the Terms of Use and fill in Applicant’s Particulars, Address and Mailing Address. Click “Next”.

Step 6
Fill in the application form and click “Proceed”.

Step 7
Upload the required documents and click “Next”.

Accepted file formats: pdf, jpg, gif, png, bmp Maximum file size: 2 MB

Step 8
Review the information that you have keyed in, complete the declarations, submit and proceed to payment.

Step 9
Make payment online with PayPal or a bank card.

Step 10
An acknowledgement will indicate that you have successfully submitted the application.

HOW DO YOU CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR LTA APPROVAL LETTER?

Wait for LTA’s email regarding the approval letter.

MEDICAL CHECK-UP AND X-RAY

Upon receiving your approval from LTA (ATC), you may contact us to obtain a “Medical Referral Letter” before you register for your course.  

For TDVL Trainees

Visit ComfortDelGro Taxi’s Office in Sin Ming to arrange for a FREE medical check-up and X-ray (that’s worth $50) if you have not gone for one before you apply for the TDVL course. All you have to do is to come personally with the LTA APPROVAL to obtain a referral letter from us.  

For PDVL Trainees

Visit ComfortDelGro Taxi’s Office in Sin Ming to arrange for a special rate for your medical check-up and X-ray if you have not gone for one before you apply for the PDVL course. All you have to do is to come personally with the LTA APPROVAL to obtain a referral letter from us.

Enter all the required personal details.

Upload the LTA letter.

Step 14
Submit SkillsFuture claim.

Step 15
Obtain the registration of course letter.

Step 16
